25 Year High School Reunion

20 Year Reunion Memories

Clarke Central High School's Class of 1986 held its 20 year reunion the weekend of June 23-24, 2006 in Athens, Georgia.

Activities began on Friday, June 23 with an informal gathering of classmates at Loco's Deli & Pub on S. Harris Street. Musician Adam Klein played live as fellow classmates greeted one another. Although our outside venue was disrupted due to the long awaited rain, our party moved indoors and continued into the wee hours of the morning. There were approximately 90 people in attendance. On Saturday, June 24 a picnic was held in the Galleria of the new Clarke Central High School's gymnasium. Food and beverages were provided - much of it donated or deeply discounted from local businesses including Arby's, Bell's Food Stores, Loco's Deli & Pub, Papa John's Pizza, and Pepsi. Three moonwalks were rented from Space Walk of Clarke/Oconee and set up in the air conditioned gymnasium - - much to the relief of some of us old folk with small children! Two tours of the school were led by CCHS's Coach Ryles. Many of us were envious of the air conditioned and carpeted classrooms that we did not have 20 years ago! Other tour highlights included the "media" room (aka: library) with its endless sea of high tech computers; Mell Auditorium's conversion to a lunchroom, and the new auditorium - which was comparable to a commercial upscale theater. Although no official count was kept, we estimate that 150-200 people attended. Click here to view photos.

On Saturday, June 24 at 7:30pm we hosted the "main" reunion event at the Classic Center. Officially, 163 people attended with 118 being fellow classmates. In addition to a cocktail buffet, entertainment, and beverages, highlights of the evening included a "Memorial Table" to honor our deceased classmates, a "Patriotic Table" to pay tribute to our classmates serving in the U.S. Military, a silent auction (to raise funds for a class gift to CCHS), dancing to 80's music, and a continuous viewing of a section of the Commemorative DVD Keepsake. The evening at the Classic Center ended just before 1am; however, the party continued in a number of locations throughout Athens. Click here to view photos.
